Beloved and Groundbreaking Author Maurice Sendak Dies

Earlier this week, Maurice Sendak died. Known for books like Where the Wild Things Are and In the Night Kitchen, Sendak defined children's literature for multiple generations. His books presented a darker worldview that resonated more deeply with the reality of children's worlds.

J.K. Rowling Announces New Book, Re-formatted Website

In a bit of news that's not exactly children's-publishing-specific, but which is certainly related, Rowling announced that her new adult book, titled The Casual Vacancy, will be released on September 27th.
